Eurostar service resumes following lorry fire in north tunnel but delays are expected

Train services resumed through the Channel Tunnel at 2.45am on Sunday January 18 following a lorry fire in the north tunnel.

All Eurostar trains and Eurotunnel vehicle and freight train service were cancelled both to and from the Continent for most of Saturday while the incident was dealt with.

Passenger train operator Eurostar said services between London and mainland Europe would resume on Sunday morning.

But the company has warned of delays of between 30 and 60 minutes because only one tunnel will be open.

Eurostar said a "full service" would run on Sunday for passengers who have "an existing reservation for this date".

People whose trains had been cancelled on Saturday should not arrive at stations on Sunday unless they have already re-booked, the company added.

The Eurostar is showing seats are still available for travel this weekend.
