Nottingham Forest will feel this was two points dropped, following an afternoon of incredible drama at Bloomfield Road that saw five goals, a penalty and a sending off in a remarkable half hour of second half action.

Blackpool, who finished the game with nine men, had held a 2-0 lead through goals from Gary Madine and Andrea Orlandi. But goals from Dexter Blackstock and Gary Gardner drew the Reds level within four minutes.

Steven Davies struck to put the home side ahead again, before Tom Aldred was sent off for bringing down Michail Antonio and conceding a penalty. Lansbury scored from the penalty spot to make it 3-3, before Chris Burke looked to have snatched the winner in injury time.

But David Ferguson flicked home a header deep, deep into injury time to make it 4-4 and deny Dougie Freedman a third consecutive win as Reds manager. Forest also lost Jack Hobbs to injury in the first half.

With the pitch looking like a ploughed field before the game had even kicked off, it was no surprise that there was something of a scrappy start to the fixture. But the finish to the game was truly incredible.

Forest were looking to get the ball down and play, but it took around ten minutes for them to settle into life on a truly disgraceful playing surface. Matty Fryatt, brought into the side in place of the injured Britt Assombalonga – as the one change to the starting XI against Wigan on Wednesday night - had a few early touches, while Antonio prodded and probed down the left.

When Antonio did find his stride, he won the game's first corner, with 12 minutes gone. But it said much that, as Ben Osborn ran up to take it, he slipped and kicked the ball out for a goal kick.

It took 15 minutes for anyone to muster a shot of any description, with David Perkins letting fly from the edge of the box and, with a little help from the pitch, forcing a scrambled save from Darlow, who was almost deceived when the low, skimming effort bounced up awkwardly off a divot in the turf.

Antonio attempted to run at the Blackpool defence again – but was thwarted when the ball simply bounced up off the turf and out of play.

Forest did muster a chance from a free kick, delivered into the centre by Burke. Antonio's flick looked, for a second, to have found Fryatt just a few yards from goal, but he hesitated just for a split second and keeper Joe Lewis pounced on the ball.

After Antonio had hurled a long throw into the centre, Gary Gardner saw a rocket of a shot blocked on the edge of the box.

Tony McMahon was booked for a foul on Antonio, just as the winger was threatening to burst into the box. Fox saw a vicious shot blocked on the edge of the area from the resulting free kick and Blackpool broke quickly – with Dom Telford seeing a driven shot well saved by Darlow, diving alertly to his right.

The game was slowly starting to witness a few chance, with Eric Lichaj seeing a crisp effort deflected wide for a corner, after he had advanced forward down the right. A quick break from Osborn then saw him feed Fryatt down the right, but his cross took a deflection that made it easy for Lewis to claim.

Antonio, who was actually looking dangerous when he ran with the ball as the bumpy nature of the pitch ensured that nobody knew where the ball would go. And the winger saw another deflected effort spin wide, after progressing to the edge of the box.

Aldred became the second Blackpool player to be booked for a foul on the determined winger, after halting his progress with a shoulder to the chest.

Forest suffered a blow in the 42nd minute when Hobbs limped off with what looked like a hamstring problem, to be replaced by Jamaal Lascelles off the bench.

They suffered a further blow when their reshuffled defence conceded a goal in first half injury time, with Telford delivering a cross from the right where Madine found himself with half a yard of space to hit a shot on the turn, beating Darlow from close range.

The second half began in similar fashion to the first, with Forest struggling to find any creativity amid difficult conditions.

When Antinio looped in a cross from the left the ball somehow found its way through to Burke in front of goal but, instead of attacking the ball first time, the winger attempted to control and Lewis was able to snatch the ball.

With Forest becoming increasingly frustrated, Freedman made a second change, with Blackstock replacing midfielder Osborn, to give the visitors a little more attacking threat.

It was Blackpool who were finding their feet however, with Orlandi then seeing a deflected shot bounce away off the bar. The moment proved to be the inspiration for a third change for Forest, with Oliver Burke given his Championship debut in place of Fryatt.

The young winger had not the opportunity for a touch before Blackpool had scored to make it 2-0, with Orlandi netting in impressive fashion, curling a shot beyond the reach of Darlow from the edge of the box. It proved to be the start of an incredible 11 minute spell of drama.

Orlandi's goal came in the 66th minute. Within four minutes, Forest were level. The first Reds goal came as Oliver Burke did get his first touch – and a decisive one – to flick the ball to Blackstock, who initially saw Lewis save at his near post, but then beating him at his near post at the second attempt.

The second was also something of a scrambled effort, with Gardner forcing the ball home from close range, as Lewis again did well to initially block a shot, only for the midfielder to level.

But Forest's joy was initially short lived, as a bit of penalty area pinball in the opposite box then led to sub Davies finding himself with the chance to force the ball beyond Darlow, to edge the home side in front again in the 73rd minute.

Four minutes later, there was yet more drama to come as Antinio, having initially shaken off his marker, was then brought down in the box by Aldred as he shaped up to shoot.

Referee Lee Probert pointed to the spot and showed a red card to the defender. And Lansbury made no mistake from the spot, driving a lot shot to Lewis's left and inside the post to make it 3-3.

Blackpool used their third and final substitution to rejig after the goal, with Peter Clarke coming on for McMahon – it was later to prove a decisive moment as, O'Dea was subsequently injured, leaving Blackpool to face nine minutes of time added on with nine men.

Forest lay siege on the Blackpool goal in search of a winner, with Lichaj seeing a shot blocked on the line as the home side held on desperately.

And they did take the lead in the 96th minute when Chris Burke smashed a screamer of a shot high into the top corner of the net in the 96th minute.

But that still wasn't the end of it. Blackpool threw caution to the wind – and keeper Lewis into attack, as they won a corner. His presence was enough of a distraction as Ferguson flicked home a header to make it 4-4

There was still time for Antonio to miss a golden chance to put Forest ahead again, as he skied a shot over the bar from close range, leaving the winger with his head in his hands.
