A 52-year-old man suffered serious facial injuries, including a broken eye socket, during an assault in Worksop.
Police have now released a photograph of Michael Boyle's injuries in the hope of catching his attackers.
The incident happened between 8pm and 8.30pm on Sunday December 16 as Mr Boyle walked along Bridge Place, near the mini roundabout at the junction of Gateford Road and Sandy Lane.
Mr Boyle was set upon by three men and punched in the face. After falling to the floor, he continued to be kicked by the men. They then fled the scene.
Mr Boyle is deaf and due to the brutality of the attack the external fitting to his hearing aid was knocked out, leaving him even more vulnerable and disorientated during the ordeal.
Along with the broken eye socket, Mr Boyle, who is from Worksop, has swelling and bruising to his face, as well as a fractured jaw, which needs specialist hospital treatment.
