MORE than 3,000 people showed interest in 150 Notts Police officer vacancies.
The force launched a recruitment drive yesterday, its biggest in five years.
Applications are being taken for two weeks for the new beat officers, who will be taken on and trained in batches over the next 12 months.
A force spokesman said as of 4pm yesterday 300 application packs had been picked up from police stations, more than 100 calls were made to the force HR department and 3,179 people visited the page on the force's website.
Senior officers including Assistant Chief Constable Sue Fish helped take some of the calls from potential recruits yesterday.
