THEY'VE had one careful owner, are reliable runners and have plenty of room for passengers and luggage.
But unlike the usual vehicles advertised through the used car ads, you could soon own something a little different.
Nottingham auctioneers John Pye & Sons is looking for buyers for a fleet of single and double-decker buses formerly used by Premiere Travel, which went into administration last month.
The company is currently focusing on selling the vehicles to other bus companies, but any that go unsold over the coming weeks could end up being sold at auction to the general public.
Charles Loake, professional services manager at John Pye & Sons, said: "We do a lot of liquidation and administration work and buses are rare as an asset.
"We've had buses in the past, but usually only one or two at a time. The fleet has taken up around a quarter of our car park."
The buses are currently being stored at John Pye & Sons' base in Radford Road, New Basford.
Mr Loake said the auctioneers had the help of former Premiere Travel drivers to move the vehicles.
The cheapest bus is a 1999 T-reg Dennis Trident Double Decker, which has an estimate of £10,000.
The most expensive is the 2007 Volvo B Double Decker, on a 57 Plate, which is estimated at £120,000.
The newest vehicle in the fleet – a 2010 Enviro 200 bus – is available for an estimated £85,000.
Mr Loake said: "We were instructed to take over the buses on February 1.
"A lot have been returned to various finance companies as they were on contract hire, but we carried out a valuation report on the ones left and removed every one to our premises.
"The next stage is a sale by private treaty rather than through an auction, because they are fairly high-value vehicles.
"We're contacting other bus companies to try and source another user for them. We've had some interest from those that have taken over some of Premiere Travel's routes, but have also contacted bus companies across the UK.
"Any that are left over, like the older ones, could go to auction.
"It's about getting the right figure and as much money as possible for the creditors of Premiere Travel."
Premiere Travel Ltd ran 19 bus routes in Notts, Leicestershire and Derbyshire.
The company was wound up after a buyer couldn't be found, with the loss of around 200 jobs.
Other bus companies, including Trent Barton and Nottingham City Transport, have taken over some routes.
