Ruling on Sheffield player Chris Frank disappoints Nottingham Panthers

NOTTINGHAM Panthers are disappointed that their request for supplementary discipline on Sheffield Steelers' Chris Frank has been 'thrown out' by the league disciplinary committee. Instead, Frank's minor penalty on the night for cross checking Panthers' Matthew Myers during last Friday's game has been upgraded to a 5+game penalty for high sticks, rather than a match penalty which would have seen him banned for at least a game. Head of discipline, Simon Kirkham, said: "This penalty will be added to Chris Frank's record. If he receives a further 5+game stick-related penalty this season, he will receive a one-match suspension as per EIHL tariff guidelines." A Panthers spokesperson said today: "There was much shaking of the head in the office today but we're not going to rant and rave about this matter. We sat on the tape while the deliberations were going on and didn't broadcast the incident. "We wouldn't have sent it in straight after the game if we didn't think it merited a suspension. The tape is up and running now. Fans can make up their own minds, there's no need for us to make further comment."Watch the video here
