A Notts college is looking to build a £70 million campus on derelict land in the city centre. Central College Nottingham, the old South Nottingham College, has unveiled its plans to build on derelict wasteland between Canal Street and the Nottingham Contemporary gallery. The college's current Maid Marian Way building would be sold off – possibly as part of the castle plans. (Friday, March 1)

Excellent, it's about time something was done with that bit of land, preferably that doesn't involve cheap apartments.

"Iconic" building though, hmmm, jury out on that....roll on flat pack glass and steel box.

It's a win-win if you ask me. We lose a horrid building which will open the area around the castle and get a great looking building in place that will kick-start other planned growth.

Surely there isn't enough derelict land between Canal Street and Nottingham Contemporary? Perhaps they're going to flatten the council houses on Cliff Road, the Newshouse and Loggerheads?

Another building that will look like something out of Star Wars... ugly, no class, no style

Why couldn't they build it where the old fire station was at Dunkirk?

For too long the south side of Nottingham has given a poor impression of the city.

Yes and the north, east and west sides aren't much better either.

People in Clifton had the chance to air their views about the tram extension as the plans went on display at Clifton Cornerstone building. Staff from tram operators Nottingham Express Transit and the contractors were there to speak to them. (Friday, March 1)

I can honestly say, hand on heart, I have yet to speak to anybody that wanted the tram extensions building. What a complete waste of money!

When you have a tram going into Nottingham every 6 mins with a journey time of less than 20 mins, day in, day out, in all weather, trust me you will use the tram. In fact, after a few weeks you'll wonder why you made such a fuss over it. It's quick, clean and very user friendly.
