Sherwood: A road closure is expected to lead to "severe delays", said the city council.

Lanes will be closed off-peak at Mansfield Road's junction with Haydn Road from Monday until Friday, March 22, while new traffic lights are put in.

West Bridgford: A would-be burglar fled empty handed after being disturbed trying to break into a house.

It happened at the back of a house in Boxley Drive, West Bridgford, at 7.35pm on Thursday.

Police, who are warning people to be vigilant, asked anyone with information to call them on 101 and quote incident number 000721-28022013.

Wollaton: Parts of Middleton Boulevard will be closed between the Queen's Medical Centre and Crown Island from Monday.

Restrictions will be in place between 9.30am and 3.30pm until Wednesday, due to tree pruning.

Lace Market: People can discuss issues with the police as part of an event on Wednesday when the neighbourhood policing team holds a beat surgery at Nottingham Arena between 5pm and 6.30pm.

Residents will be able to meet local officers and discuss problems in their area.

City centre: The council has agreed to spend £21,591.63 on a street cleaning machine to tackle dog fouling.

Councillors agreed the vehicle was needed to "improve response times and productivity across all areas" and that it "would have a more visible presence as a deterrent".

Carlton: Residents have been advised to be on their guard after several sheds were broken into in the Cavendish Road area.

Gedling PCSO Daniel Hodgkinson put out the warning yesterday .

He said: "Please take care to secure your sheds and the items within. Shed alarms are a cheap and effective way of deterring burglars."
