RADI Majewski maintained his remarkable run of form to extend the bright start to Billy Davies' second spell as Forest manager.

A 27th minute strike from the little Pole - his fifth goal in three games - secured a 1-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday, helping Davies to take his tally to ten points from four matches since returning to the club.

The Owls had been unbeaten in seven games prior to the visit of Forest, but were second best for long spells on an afternoon when Forest again produced some flowing football.

Forest created the chances to have scored more goals at Hillsborough, but will have been encouraged to have kept a second consecutive clean sheet – and to have registered three back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

An Andy Reid cross from the left carved out the first opening of the game, with Dexter Blackstock rising to send a header goalwards. Although, had Chris Kirkland not managed to hold the ball, the effort would have been ruled out for offside.

Michail Antonio was a lively figure for the home side early on, with Chris Cohen, halting a surging run from the Wednesday man with an important challenge.

Henri Lansbury tried to place a shot in the far corner after finding room to strike from the edge of the box, but saw his effort fizz narrowly the wrong side of the post.

There was a shocking piece of refereeing in the tenth minute when Simon Cox clearly flicked the ball off a Wednesday defender for a corner, only for referee Mike Oliver to award a goal kick, under advice from his assistant who failed to spot the significant deflection from only a few feet away.

A driving break from Forest carved out an opening for the visitors, with Majewski and Reid involved before Blackstock saw a shot take a deflection that left Kirkland needing to make an awkward save.

But Karl Darlow had his reactions tested at the other end as Connor Wickham attacked a cross from Danny Pugh, but failed to direct his header beyond the reach of the keeper.

A foul on Blackstock gave Reid the chance to deliver from the right and his ball into the box was superb. But Danny Collins was left to kick the post in frustration, after failing to make contact just a few yards from goal.

Blackstock then head the ball in the back of the net after heading home a superb ball into the box from Reid – but he had strayed into an offside position before converting.

Forest did take the lead in the 27th minute, with a superbly crafted goal converted by the in-form Majewski.

Reid cut in from the right flank, riding a challenge before clipping the ball into the path of Cox, who himself skipped around a tackle, before squaring the ball to Majewski towards the far post, who slotted a composed finish beyond Kirkland.

Forest might have had a second when Cohen bombarded forward down the left, before delivering a powerful cross into the centre where Blackstock was denied by a superb challenge from Anthony Gardner.

Striker Blackstock became the first player to pick up a yellow card in the game, following a robust aerial challenge with Miguel Llera, which saw the Forest man lead with an arm.

The Owls made a change at half-time, with Jermaine Johnson – once a transfer target for Forest – coming on to replace Wickham.

It was Forest who pushed first, however, with Reid testing Kirkland with a cross-shot that almost dipped over the keeper's head. While Majewski had a powerful, curling shot headed clear by Gardner.

Lansbury became the second Reds player to be shown a yellow card, following a lunging challenge on Johnson in the 49th minute and, two minutes later, Majewski followed him into the book for a foul on Antonio.

A superb challenge from Jara sparked off a quick break from Forest, with a flowing move culminating in a shooting chance for Reid – but the winger for once opted not to pull the trigger, instead cutting the ball back for Lansbury, who was closed down before he could shoot.

Antonio threatened the Forest goal with a driven, dipping shot that did not clear Darlow's goal by more than a few feet, although the keeper did seem to be in a position to cover, had it been on target.

A clever combination between Reid and Majewski, from a corner, led to the Pole finding himself with a shooting chance from ten yards, but he smashed the ball into the side netting.

Collins needed extensive treatment after falling awkwardly following an aerial challenge with Johnson. But the skipper was able to continue.

Forest made a change with Guy Moussi coming on to replace Majewski, as Davies looked to add a physical presence in midfield. Shortly after Billy Sharp was brought on for Cox, with the former Sheffield United player given a frosty reception by the Wednesday fans.

And, with Collins perhaps still feeling the effects of his earlier knock, Jamaal Lascelles was introduced for the skipper in the 81st minute.

Llera was booked for obstructing Guedioura's run, becoming the first Wednesday player to go into the referee's notebook. Guedioura himself became the fourth Forest player to receive a yellow card shortly after, following a clumsy foul.

Blackstock had to make a brave block to thwart Johnson as Wednesday pressured for an equaliser in injury time.
