NOTTS County will really be back in the play-off race in League One if they beat Leyton Orient at Meadow Lane on Wednesday night, says boss Chris Kiwomya.

The Magpies will close the gap on the top-six to just five points with victory in their game in-hand on their rivals.

They will also rise to eighth in the table – and Kiwomya said: "It's a massive game."

It looked all over for Notts in their promotion bid, but they are now unbeaten in their last five league games and have won twice on the trot at Meadow Lane against Bury and Carlisle, ahead of facing Orient.

It has sparked hope they can make a late charge for the play-offs and Kiwomya says he is loving the thrill of the chase.

"We've clawed it back to eight points and we've got a run going now at the right time," he said. "If we can get three points against Orient it really will be back on.

"I just want us to stay on the coattails of the top six so when it comes to the last few games we can make a push."

Alan Judge was the Magpies' goalscoring hero in a 1-0 win against Carlisle with a super first-half chip and No.1 goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski made three top saves in the second half.

"We're giving it everything we can to get back up there," said Judge. "We've had a blip, but hopefully we've turned a corner now.

"We're unbeaten in five games and momentum can take you a long way.

"We'll just keep doing what we're doing, take it game by gam. Hopefully the gap will get smaller and smaller and then we might end up in there by the end of the season.

"We know we needed to turn our home form around to stand any chance and if we keep doing what we're doing, we'll get more good results here before the end of the season."
