COUNCILLORS have agreed to plans to cut almost £17 million from Nottingham City Council's budget.
The council says it faces a shortfall of almost £25 million after Government cuts.
It has decided to increase council tax by 1.95 per cent, as well as make £16.7m of savings, hitting children's services and adult social care.
The council is ending the mobile library service, passing on dog warden duties to the Community Protection service and reducing road maintenance.
It is also proposing to freeze staff pay increments for another year, saving £2.9m.
Deputy leader Graham Chapman called the budget "an excellent budget in challenging circumstances."
But Tory opposition leader Georgina Culley said the council should accept a Government grant to freeze council tax.
After nearly three hours of debate, the budget was passed with all Labour councillors voting for it and all Conservative councillors voting against it.
