Radford: A spring bazaar will be held to raise funds for the Skills Exchange.

The event will take place at Sherwood Methodist Church from 11am to 3pm on Saturday, March 16.

A variety of stalls will be available including second-hand clothes, books, plants and cakes.

The Skills Exchange is a time bank based in Radford where people can carry out tasks for each other in exchange for having something done for themselves.

Long Eaton: Trent Valley Sailing Club will open up its doors to the public on Sunday, April 7.

Visitors will be able to see the training boats, have a sail, and meet the instructors.

The club was founded in 1886 and is one of the oldest

inland sailing clubs in the country.

It is situated on an island formed by the River Trent and the Cranfleet Canal and is reached from Meadow Lane, Long Eaton.

Children's sailing takes place from April to September on Friday evenings.

Newark: Firefighters were called to a blaze at a bungalow in Besthorpe, near Newark yesterday afternoon.

The fire was contained to the lounge of the property in Sand Lane.

Firefighters from Newark and Collingham arrived around 4.30pm. An officer also attended.

Notts Fire and Rescue Service is investigating the cause of the fire.
