A WOMAN died after being found seriously injured on the ground outside a city centre car park.

Notts Police said the woman, who was in her thirties, was found near the NCP Arndale car park at the bottom of Maid Marian Way, near the Broadmarsh Centre, just before 11.30am yesterday.

She was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre, but was pronounced dead.

Officers said an investigation is underway, but her death is not being treated as suspicious.

A police cordon was put in place around where the woman was found on the pavement on the Greyfriar Gate side of the car park, opposite Ocean nightclub.

A customer at the car park, who did not want to give his name, said he had heard about what had happened. "I didn't see it but it's very shocking," he said.

"It's a lot to deal with. You feel really sorry for their family. You just don't know exactly what's happened."

NCP spokeswoman Michelle McCarthy said: "We can confirm an incident took place and the police are dealing with the investigation.

"Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with her family."

The woman has not been named, as relatives are still being informed. A police spokeswoman said: "A woman was found just before 11.30am with serious injuries near the Arndale car cark in Nottingham, and subsequently died.

"A file will be prepared for the coroner."
