A MAN is refusing to come down off the roof of a Bulwell community centre - after first climbing up there yesterday afternoon. The stand-off at the Red Lion Community Centre, Commercial Road, was still going on at 10am today. Police have cordoned off Gilead Street and Coventry Road as they try to talk the youngster down, believed to be in his late teens to early 20s. The man is believed to be from Bulwell and is wearing just a tracksuit, despite freezing temperatures and snow. There are six police cars in Gilead Street car park, while officers from nearby Bulwell Police Station are also at the scene. People living near the centre said he was threatening to jump off, while another resident said members of his family had been passing food up to him, including pizza. Jane Walster, 51, of Gilead Street, said: "I got home about 5.30pm yesterday and saw Commercial Road cordoned off. "I did not realise what was going off until my husband said a lad was on the roof of the community centre. "It was so cold last night, he must be freezing. "I don't know why he has done it, but he must have his reasons. "He will have to come down eventually, I just hope no harm comes to him. "It has been really quiet he has just been walking about most of the night on the roof."
