FOUR people living in a St Ann's house escaped unharmed when it went up in flames this afternoon. Four fire engines and a hydraulic platform unit were called to the incident in Pippin Close, off Woodlane Gardens, at about 1.50pm. All three floors of the house were ablaze but Notts Fire and Rescue Service said four people made it out with only minor smoke inhalation. No-one else was hurt. Firefighters could be seen using a hose to pour water onto the collapsed roof to put out the last embers of the fire by about 4.30pm. David Stevenson, station manager of Central Fire Station, said: "As the crews arrived up the road we could se a significant amount of smoke. Four people were in the property at or about the time of the fire but there were no injuries beyond smoke inhalation. "It was well developed when we arrived which made it more difficult to bring under control."
