Greg Halford: Nottingham Forest's winning run has filled them with the confidence they need to maintain it

NOTTINGHAM Forest's winning run has infused them with the confidence they need to keep it going, predicted an upbeat Greg Halford today.

The versatile defender believes the Reds have become embroiled in a positive vicious circle, with each of the six successive wins they have secured only adding to their self-belief – and their chances of maintaining their impressive form.

Halford says Forest's revival under Billy Davies has left them full of confidence where it matters most – in front of goal.

And he hopes the growing belief in their own abilities will help propel them to a record equalling seventh straight win against Brighton on Saturday.

"The best thing is to just be on a winning streak at the minute," said Halford.

"That is the most rewarding thing. We are seven games unbeaten, we have won six of those and we can't really ask for much more at the minute.

"It does give you confidence. We do not fear anyone. We were snatching at chances during our previous spell, when we struggled for results. But now it looks as though every chance we get, we will score from.

"That is what confidence does for you. It is a massive part of the game and we are full of it at the minute.

"It is good to be up there, although it is not as high as we would like to be."

Forest's potentially historic fixture on Saturday will be watched by a bumper crowd, with fans flocking to buy tickets for the game against one of their promotion rivals.

Less than 3,000 were left available last night and the game could yet be a sell-out, at least where home fans are concerned.

The revival in fortunes, since Davies returned for a second spell in charge, has propelled them firmly into the play-off race.

And Halford became the latest player to voice the belief that Forest have the firepower to sustain their challenge.

Forest are waiting to discover if Henri Lansbury will be fit for the game, after he sustained calf and shin injuries while on international duty with the England under-21 side.

With the midfielder having scored four goals in six games, Forest will be hoping he recovers. And Halford appreciates the threat poised by Lansbury – and the rest of the Forest side.

"Everyone knows the quality that Henri brings to the team," Halford added.

"He needs to shoot a little bit more, when you look at the strikes he produced in the last few weeks.

"We can do that, we can have that threat all over the pitch. Radi showed it a couple of weeks ago, Adlene Guedioura can get a goal, then there is Lewis and Reidy.

"On top of that, the majority of the defence have scored, asides from DC (Collins) and Gonzo (Jara), I think.

"Everyone can chip in with a goal, so it is nice not to have so much pressure on the strikers to get the goals."
