A man has suffered a fractured skull following an assault by a group of people in Gamston.
Police are appealing for witnesses and any information about those involved.
It happened outside The Goose public house in Ambleside Road at about 5.20pm on Saturday.
The 36-year-old victim and his wife had left the pub when they had an argument in the car park.
A group of three men and two women, who had also been in the pub, walked past and jeered the couple.
When the victim confronted them he was punched, pushed to the ground, and repeatedly kicked. He suffered serious injuries and a fractured skull.
One man in the group is mixed race, 6ft tall, in his early 20s and of a medium built. He was wearing a baseball cap with an emblem on the front and a dark coloured jacket with red and orange flashes under the arms.
The other two men were both white with short hair. One was of a medium build and was wearing a dark coloured jacket with a grey top underneath.
The other was of a stocky build and about 6ft tall. He was wearing a black hooded gilet with a lighter coloured top underneath.
The two women are both white with blonde hair. One was wearing a multi-coloured bobble hat and a black jacket.
The other, whose hair was tied back, was wearing a fur-lined jacket. They are believed to have fled the scene in a dark-coloured hatchback that was parked in the car park.
Anyone with information or who knows the members of the group should contact Notts Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
