CHANGING rooms at Arnold Leisure Centre are set to be overhauled thanks to £242,000 of National Lottery funding from Sport England.
The improvements to changing rooms at the leisure centre, in High Street, will be made as part of Gedling Borough Council's £1.1 million improvement project for Arnold that also sees refurbishment works taking place at the Bonington Theatre and across the leisure centre itself.
Councillor John Clarke, leader of Gedling Borough Council, said: "This is fantastic news, and another example of how we're committed to improving things for the people of the Borough. The leisure centre in Arnold will now have state of the art changing rooms that will really enhance the visitor experience."
Gedling MP Vernon Coaker added: "It's a great investment in a community facility."
Sport England Property Director, Charles Johnston, said: "Research shows people have a better experience of sport when the facilities are good both on and off the pitch. These investments will have a big impact on sport in local communities."
Between now and 2017, Sport England will invest £45 million of lottery funding through the Improvement Fund into medium-sized projects to improve grassroots sport facilities.
Changing rooms and artificial grass pitches were chosen for the first round after they were identified by Sport England as improvements that could have an immediate impact on the number of people playing sport within a community.
