New appeal after thieves steal jewellery in Sandiacre burglary

POLICE have launched a fresh appeal for information about a burglary in Sandiacre which led to a haul of jewellery being stolen. Thieves broke in to the home in Orchard Way some time between 9.30am on Sunday, March 24 and 12.45pm on Monday, March 25. Derbyshire Police said some of the stolen jewellery had "huge sentimental value" for the owner, including an engagement ring and pearl necklace. The thieves also took a 9ct gold ring with four claw-set blue sapphires with four diamonds around them, and a solid silver cigarette case with an engraving of the initials 'J W M'. Also taken was a 9ct gold bangle, a 9ct solid gold patterned bangle, a pearl necklace, a gold 'L' pendant for a necklace and the 9ct gold engagement ring with three diamonds in a horseshoe shape. A 42" Sony Bravia TV, a 32" Samsung TV, a satellite television receiver box, a DVD player, games console and a leather bag with a silver Radley charm attached were also taken. Detective Constable Rob Nicholls, from Erewash Volume Crime Unit, said: "Many of the items taken in this burglary are of huge sentimental value to the owner and cannot be replaced. "Anyone with information can call me directly or Crimestoppers, which is completely anonymous." The burglary took place between 9.30am on Sunday, March 24 and 12.45pm on Monday, March 25.
