NOTTINGHAMSHIRE'S new businesses are to be celebrated at the Nottingham Post Business Awards, held at the East Midlands Conference Centre on May 23.

The ceremony will bring together a wide range of organisations, including some of the region's most influential businesses, which have offered their expertise as award category sponsors.

Legal powerhouse Freeth Cartwright is pleased to be involved with the awards and offer its sponsorship of the New Business of the Year award.

Julian Middleton, of the company, says: "Freeth Cartwright, as a firm, has a long-standing commitment to Nottinghamshire and are proud to be a sponsor for the Nottingham Post Business Awards," he says. "The prestigious awards event is an excellent way to encourage, recognise and reward the hard work and ongoing commitment required by local businesses to excel."

The legal firm places a great deal of importance on the impact of emerging businesses and the positive effect they can have on the region's economy as a whole.

With a flood of strong entries received this year, the standard of region's new businesses is proving to be incredibly high.

Julian says: "We are proud to work with many successful local businesses and enjoy engaging with new start-ups to become business partners and integral to their success.

"Being the 'new kid on the block' is never easy, particularly so under current economic pressures."

The business awards offer the region a positive indication of the strength of the county's business fitness and highlight the ways in which the economy is developing, despite the effects of a challenging economic climate.

Freeth Cartwright is looking forward to the benefits that the 2013 awards will offer to the wider community.

"Awards such as these will help showcase Nottinghamshire's exceptional business successes and the ceremony will unite people from across the region, providing an excellent networking occasion.

"It is an opportunity to look back over the business year and celebrate achievements. Awards add credibility and allow businesses to stand out from the competition, and provide a big boost both in terms of new business and staff morale."

Julian adds: "It is vital that the rejuvenation and development of the region's economy is supported and new businesses represent an excellent barometer of the strength and stability of the county as a whole.

"The category, like all of the different awards, promises to be an excellent showcase of the very best new businesses, allowing them the opportunity to reinforce what they have already achieved and the impact that they will continue to have for the future."
