THOUSANDS of Meat Loaf fans, some of whom had travelled hundreds of miles, were left disappointed after the star postponed his Nottingham concert at the last minute.

For months the date had been in the diaries of fans of the larger-than-life star, whose hits include Bat Out of Hell and All Revved Up With No Place To Go.

Many were already queuing up at the Capital FM Arena when they were told the concert on Sunday night was being put back, due to several members of the band feeling ill.

Louise Holland, who commented on the Post's Facebook page, said she was very upset, despite the show being rescheduled for May.

She said: "I'm totally gutted. I had been getting ready listening to all his songs and was so excited to have really good seats near the front.

"Sadly my husband can't make the rescheduled date either, so double gutted. But I do appreciate the band have been working so hard and won't have made the decision to postpone lightly.

"I bumped in to people last night who had travelled from Wales, Stevenage and Great Yarmouth, who were really disappointed and lost money travelling and in hotel bookings."

The Arena said staff did all they could to inform concert-goers as soon as possible.

Martin Ingham, the venue's deputy chief executive, said: "We were advised by the promoter just before 6pm that, very regrettably, they had to postpone the show at late notice due to illness affecting several band members.

"At this point we put our event contingency plan into place which consisted of communicating as quickly as possible with as many of our customers as we could via text, website, social media, telephone and email.

"Due to the postponement happening so close to the start of the event, we had a large number of stewards and customer service staff on site who were relocated around the venue and at transport interchanges and car parks across the city.

"Their role was to communicate directly with customers before they were dropped off or parked up."

He added that the Arena staff shared its customers' disappointment and offered an apology for the postponement.

The show has been rescheduled to take place on May 20.

Customers who are able to attend this date should retain their tickets as all tickets remain valid for the new date.

For any customers that are unable to attend the rescheduled date, a full refund will be available by returning the ticket to their point of purchase – for example Ticketmaster. Customers who require a refund from the venue are advised to return tickets to the Capital FM Arena, Freepost NAT19594, Nottingham, NG1 1BR.
