A DENTAL nurse from Mansfield is "amazed" after winning the title of Miss Nottingham. Juliette Brashier, 24, says she didn't think she'd ever win.
"I did Miss Nottingham last year and there were 20 girls - I didn't even make it into the top ten because I was so nervous," said the 24-year-old.
This year she decided to hold her head high and be more confident. Her new, positive attitude paid off as she will now go on to represent Nottingham in the Miss England final in Torquay on June 13-16.
She was cheered on at the Miss Nottingham final at the De Vere Village hotel in Chilwell by her boyfriend of nearly two years, Will Baxter, 26, who works as a sales rep, and his parents also came along to offer their support.
Juliette said: "My own mum passed away when I was around ten years old and I know she did things like this and I wanted to make her proud. I wanted to do something that I know she would enjoy.
"As Miss Nottingham I want to show that you can follow your dreams like I did. If you really put your mind to it you can do it."
Pheobe Little, 21, an athlete from Hucknall came second and 19-year-old Zoe Griffiths, a private carer from Nottingham, was third.
Special commendations were also given to salon owner Jade Heyes, 21, who won Miss Popularity and Jenny Statham, 24, who raised £400 for chosen charity Beauty With A Purpose after doing a sky dive.
Juliette is now preparing for the Miss England final, the winner of which will go on to Miss World in Indonesia in September. But Juliette can't even think that far ahead at the moment.
She said: "I can't believe it would even be possible, it would be such an amazing experience. I'm just going to enjoy being Miss Nottingham at the moment."
