MORE than 90 people took part in a 90-minute charity "zumbathon".
The event, at Redhill Academy in Arnold, started at 3pm on Saturday and raised cash for Help for Heroes.
It was arranged by Kris Gregory, who teaches zumba, a dance fitness program
She said 93 people aged from 17 to 60 took part.
Before the dance there were stalls selling a variety of goods, a raffle and a tombola.
These brought in £1,000 for the charity, on top of £1,300 already donated online.
More money is set to come in from sponsorship and Ms Gregory said: "It was a great day, a big success.
"I was really pleased with the amount of people who turned up."
Ms Gregory – who also held a zumbathon last year to raise around £6,000 for children's cancer charity Clic Sargent – said she hopes it becomes an annual event.
Help for Heroes offers support to people who have suffered life-changing injuries and illnesses while serving in the Armed Forces.
"A lot of people have family members who are in the Armed Forces, or who have been previously, so it is close to their hearts," added Ms Gregory.
"We are confident we'll have raised more than £3,000 once all of the money is in, which is a fantastic amount."
Among them was Faye Henrys, 43, of Arnold, who also made bracelets to sell on a stall before the event.
She said: "I raised £400 by selling them, which I was so pleased about.
"The event was great. Everyone was buzzing right until the end.
"People were in Union Jack colours, others in Army colours.
"I was tired afterwards when I got home, but it really helps that you are raising money for such a good cause."
Denise Barker, 48, of Papplewick, also took part.
She said: "I could have kept going even longer. A few other people said the same.
"It was an amazing atmosphere and a credit to Kris for organising it."
