In the eyes of many Reds fans, Brian Clough was quite simply a footballing god.
In 18 years as manager, he turned them from a faltering Second Division club into champions of Europe. They won the Division One title, lifted the League Cup four times, were twice crowned European Cup winners and embarked on a 42-game unbeaten league run that remains a club record.
It all ended in tears in May 1993, when defeat at home to Sheffield United condemned Forest to relegation from the Premiership – but the adulation of the crowd that day confirmed Cloughie's legendary status.
Twenty years on, and almost nine years after his death, the Nottingham Post pays tribute with a Bygones supplement celebrating the Clough era. It's on sale at newsagents now, price 70p.
