NEAL Bishop has told the Post he is uncertain about his future at Notts County.

But he insists talk he wants to leave Meadow Lane after four years is wide of the mark.

The 31-year-old midfielder, who has just stepped down as captain, still has one year left on his contract with the Magpies.

But he said: "I'm not making any forecasts, I've been at this club long enough to know there is no such thing as a certainty.

"If I'm here I'll do what I've always done, I'll give it my best."

Asked if rumours he wants to go are true, he added: "That's wide of the mark. It's an uncertain time, it is when any new manager comes in with his own ideas.

"He's obviously going to want to bring in his own players. As far as my future is concerned, it's the same as anyone else.

"Chris (Kiwomya) has already said there are going to be players under contract that may have to move on, there will be players out of contract he wants to keep and players from other clubs he wants to bring in.

"I think there are going to be some big changes in the summer and I don't think anybody should be surprised by any comings or goings that may or may not happen.

"It's going to be an interesting summer and obviously Chris is his own man, he's got his own ideas of the players he wants to be here.

"This is just the start of Chris's project.

"I'm sure the board will give him the full backing with what he wants to do, even though he's not going to have the budget we have had for the last few years.

"It's a season we can all look forward to and, as for me, whether I'm part of it or not remains to be seen."

Bishop gave up the armband after the Magpies' last game of the season, in which he scored a career-record seven goals.

"For me personally, if anyone looks at it objectively, it's been my best season for this club," he said.

"Take everything out of it, whether you like me or not, I don't think anyone can disagree with that.

"Being captain has probably been the greatest honour of my career, it's not something I've ever taken lightly.

"It's been a huge, huge privilege."
