A WOMAN has been given a suspended prison sentence after she admitted wounding a model who needed more than 30 stitches after her face went through a glass panel.
Genavese Justin, 24, of Kentwood Road, Sneinton, injured her best friend, Lasha Horton, in Top Valley on October 26 last year.
Miss Horton said at the time her career was over after the incident left her "scarred for life".
After spending two days in hospital, she was told her face would never fully heal.
The 23-year-old's casting agent estimated she could have earned up to £15,000 a year.
The assault happened in Miss Horton's home in Pine Hill Close, Rise Park, at about 1am on Friday, October 26.
Miss Horton's boyfriend rang an ambulance and she was admitted to the Queen's Medical Centre.
Today, at Notttingham Crown Court, Justin received a 14-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
Judge Jonathan Teare told her: "On the 26th October last year you did something which changed the lives forever of two 24-year-old women - yourself and Lasha Horton, your best friend.
"It may be that drink played its part but in any event you fell out with her, as a result of which she didn't want you in the house anymore and asked you to leave."Mr Evans [Justin's barrister] quite rightly says on your behalf this was only a push. I think a push is a misdescription. I think it was a shove, which indicates more force to me than a push.
"You didn't know at that time, you probably didn't care, what the effect of that shove would be, but it was disastrous.
"You are a 24-year-old woman. You can imagine what permanent scarring to your face would do to you; how people would look at you, how your family would look at you, how your friends would look at you.
"You, from the reports I've read about you, are a caring, loving mother.
"In the same way I can't turn the clock back for Lasha Horton, I could not turn the clock back for your daughter, if I sent you to custody immediately today."
Judge Teare said he was giving her the 14-month sentence and said: "I'm going to suspend that for your daughter.
"I don't see why your actions should impact so that an innocent child loses her mother.
"But be sure, Genavese Justin, if you commit any offence punishable with imprisonment within the next two years you can expect to serve those 14 months, and nothing Mr Evans can say will persuade me that I should not do anything other than impose that sentence." Miss Horton said at the time: "Although I can no longer model I would like to continue my charity work.
"This happened in a matter of seconds but it has devastated my life. I haven't been leaving the house and I can no longer pursue the career I wanted."
She added that people needed to realise just how much of an impact a single moment can have. Among the modelling work Miss Horton had lined up was a contract with Demus Castings, in London.
Her attacker was due to stand trial at Nottingham Crown Court on a more serious charge of causing her grievous bodily harm.
The trial was abandoned three weeks ago when the prosecution decided the lesser plea was acceptable.
