TWO men ended up in hospital after a crash involving a double-decker bus in Nottingham.
The bus was in collision with a Fiat Cinquecenco in Mansfield Road shortly after 1pm on Saturday.
Police confirmed the driver of the car had suffered "severe injuries" while the bus driver was in a "serious condition" . They were taken for treatment at the Queen's Medical Centre.
Two passengers from the car had minor injuries.
Witnesses at the scene say a baby was in the back seat of the car, but was unharmed.
Dev Bana, 39, owner of nearby Dev's Barbers said: "I heard the crash, it sounded like a train coming to a halt."
Mr Bana described running out of his hairdressers to see the aftermath, and saw the double-decker, with more than 20 passengers, slowly pulling into the bus lane.
He added: "The driver had a bloody nose. He was not very well.
"There was a young baby, maybe one or two years old, in the back seat of the car with a lady who was covered in blood. The baby was screaming, which made me want to cry as well."
Tariq Omar, 29, works in the same barber's, said: "The driver couldn't speak, and the man in the front was unconscious for a while before he came around."
Mr Bana said the woman from the shop next door was calling an ambulance as he bolted outside, and emergency services arrived within five minutes.
He added that when paramedics tried to help the woman, she was calling for her son.
"The baby was so scared because the mother was not OK. She kept shouting 'I can't leave my baby'," he said.
Mansfield Road was closed northbound from the city centre until 5.30pm – close to the Golden Fleece pub, between Woodborough Road and Forest Road.
Golden Fleece trainee mananger Chris Hayes, 21, said: "We had a wedding reception in here with about 30 guests. It was too busy for me to see what had happened, but there was panic."
Notts Police are asking witnesses to come forward by calling 101.
