A NOTTINGHAM apprentice was among a team that won a chance-of-a-lifetime trip to Mount Kilimanjaro.
David Price, an automotive apprentice at Surf Blue Garage, in Giltbrook, went on the trip to Tanzania, which was arranged by training provider Remit.
It was a prize for winning Remit's national awards in December last year.
On the 12-day visit, they spent time with workers from the Village Education Project Kilimanjaro. The charity teaches children and young people in villages on the slopes of the mountain.
At the end of their trip, David and the team headed out on safari to see Tanzania's wildlife in its natural habitat.
Steve Yardley, Remit's chief operating officer, said: "We wanted to offer the young people that have excelled and shown true potential, just how much we value them.
"The majority of the trip wasn't a holiday. There was lots to do and learn and it is a real experience for anyone to see how people live in rural poverty in a country like Tanzania.
"This is a chance of a lifetime and we're delighted these young men joined our team."
The Post is hoping to give more people like David a chance of an apprenticeship with our Get Notts Working campaign.
We are looking to create 300 apprentice roles in 100 days.
We are working with the city council, Derbyshire and Notts Chamber of Commerce, the National Apprenticeship Service and Nottinghamshire City and County Employment and Skills Board.
