DRIVERS on the M1 were facing delays of up to 10 minutes after a car caught fire today.
The incident at about 5pm forced two northbound lanes of the motorway to be closed between junctions 24 and 25.
Smoke could be seen from miles around as the vehicle burned on the carriageway until firefighters arrived to put it out.
The Highways Agency said they expect traffic to return to normal by about 5.45pm.
