TICKETS go on sale today for the 2013 Southwell Poetry Festival with a top line-up in prospect again this year.
Mark Gwynne Jones and Gillian Clarke headline at this year's festival in July and national TV newscaster Nina Hossain will be interviewing Southwell Library Poetry Festival founder Pauline Buttery as part of the programme of events.
The festival from Wednesday, July 17, to Sunday, July 21, is organised by Notts County Council and is a regular annual event to celebrate poetry in all its forms at Southwell Library in King Street.
Councillor John Knight, chairman of the culture committee, said: "We have once again sought ideas from visitors for this year's festival and some of the feedback we received was for more opportunities to take part in workshops.
"We have commissioned a range of poets and experts in their fields to lead you through the history of sonnets and the miniature world of haikus, via poems written in clay, to a workshop encompassing births, marriages and deaths.
"As we anticipate another wonderful festival, special thanks are due to all our staff, volunteers and local community groups. It takes a huge number of people to make the festival possible and the willing and cheerful help, so generously given, makes a very special contribution to the success of our festival."
