AN INTERNATIONALLY-renowned British artist is set to open his first Nottingham exhibition tomorrow at a city art gallery. Paul Lemmon will be showing his latest work at George Thornton Art at a free exhibition at the Flying Horse Walk from tomorrow until Saturday June 29. There will also be a chance to meet the artist at a private viewing at 1pm until 4pm tomorrow. Paul is a self-taught oil painter and his signature technique is working from his own photography. He says he aims to capture the spontaneity, atmosphere and emotion of city life through rapid painting and unorthodox angles. George Thornton, director and owner of George Thornton Art, said: "I'm really excited about Paul's exhibition and visit. Getting him to display his work here is a real coup for the gallery, and for Nottingham – as he hasn't exhibited in Nottingham before. "I'm expecting a really good turnout for this week-long exhibition." Mr Lemmon said: "My primary interest is in conveying mood and atmosphere rather than specifics. Ultimately, my aim is to immerse the viewer in my paintings, whilst allowing them to imagine their own characters and narratives in what they're seeing." For more information please call George Thornton on 01159 243 555.
