MOTORISTS could face delays through the city centre due to roadworks.
Workmen will start digging in Huntingdon Street from 9.30am today to carry out emergency repairs to a collapsed sewer.
One lane will be closed on the northbound side by the junction with King Edward Street.
The closure will be in effect for 24 hours a day until Sunday.
Severe delays are expected as a result, particularly at peak times.
Main roads elsewhere in the city and county appear to be incident-free at present, with the Highways Agency having no reports of incidents on major routes including the M1, A52 or A453.
Meanwhile, the Met Office is forecasting that the summer sunshine will continue today, with highs of 24C.
