CELEBRITY Rylan Clark wowed an adoring crowd at Broadmarsh Shopping Centre, where he was guest judge for a local singing competition.

Rylan – who rose to fame after reaching the quarter finals of talent show The X Factor – visited Nottingham as part of Capital FM's Sing-Off competition hosted by DJs Dino and Pete.

The singer, who now presents Big Brother's Bit On The Side on Channel 5, appeared on stage dressed in exactly the same outfit as the promotional life-size cardboard cut-out of himself.

In a turquoise jacket, white shirt and a pair of black skinny jeans, he said: "I can't believe I'm looking exactly the same as it. I'm even wearing the same bracelet."

The 24-year-old spent four hours at the centre listening to 11 music acts from Notts and had the tough job of choosing just six finalists for the chance of a prize trip to Las Vegas.

"I'm looking for people that come out here and just enjoy it. You haven't got to be the best singer – evidently," he said, pointing at himself.

Among the hundreds who came to see him was Rosie Whardon, 18, of Sneinton.

She said: "I love him – I think he's so funny. I loved watching him on The X Factor and when he went into the Celebrity Big Brother house his personality really came through. I want his autograph."

Another fan was mother-of -three Rachel Barleby, 38, from Sutton-in-Ashfield, who said: "I think he is a handsome man, and he's drawn quite a crowd here today."

The first act to perform was Kimberley singer-guitarist Tom Wardle.

Rylan thanked his fans for coming to see him and said that the crowd in Nottingham were "very good looking".

The six he chose to go to Sunday's final were Tom Wardle, Polly Hallam, Francesca Todino, Lee Gough, Ant McAndrew and Leanne Fotheringham.

Francesca Todino was the eventual first-place winner and both she and her boyfriend will soon be off to Las Vegas.

Capital FM marketing manager Nicci Ryan said: "All the contestants were of a high standard and were whittled down from hundreds of online Capital FM entries."
