Hundreds of women took on the challenge of Nottingham's first ladies' only 10k race. The inaugural Women's Running 10k saw more than 500 runners of all abilities take on a course around the Victoria Embankment on Saturday. The race was the second of three Women's Running 10k events being stages over the summer. Former model and runner, Nell McAndrew, was among the competitors. It was her first race since giving birth to her second child, daughter Anya, four months ago. She said: "It's great to see so many women here wanting to be involved and improve their fitness. "A lot of women can get put off running if it's a mixed race, so this was a chance for them to give it a go alongside other women. "They should just try it." The event also attracted runners from across the UK and Ireland. Chris Macdonald, editor of Women's Running magazine, said: "Saturday was a really good day all round. The weather was perfect for running, which resulted in our top three finishers achieving personal best times. "I also ran the race, pacing those runners targeting a sub-70 minute time, and the support amongst the women was superb. "This was our first event in Nottingham and we were really pleased with the turnout. We'd like to thank all the ladies who joined us for making the event so special."
