THREE members of staff from Nottingham City Council will be welcoming people to the city while work takes place at the railway station. The ambassadors will be helping travellers at replacement bus drop-off points on Queens Road and Canal Street while the work takes place and Nottingham station is largely closed until August 25. In addition to Nottingham City Council's ambassadors, East Midlands Trains will also have staff available at all replacement bus stops to direct people to bus pick-up points and answering queries about train and replacement bus timetables. Nottingham City Council's Portfolio Holder for Planning and Transport, Councillor Jane Urquhart, said: "We are working very closely with Network Rail, East Midlands Trains and other partners to help minimise any disruption to the travelling public as a result of the signal improvement works over the summer. "Through our ambassadors we aim to give travellers a warm welcome to Nottingham, assisting them with directions into the city centre and any other enquiries that they may have. "I would encourage anyone who normally travels to Nottingham by train to think now about the alternatives that might be available to them."
