NOTTINGHAM City Council is being invited to bid for a £20 million pot of Government cash to help makes homes greener.
The money will be used to help homes install energy efficient home improvements, such as insulation and cladding.
The authority will be asked to identify streets and areas that could most benefit from the Green Deal, and then offer incentives to households in these areas to encourage them to have work done to improve energy efficiency.
Energy and Climate Change Minister Greg Barker said: "Local authorities really know their areas best. They know which streets and properties most need a Green Deal to improve their energy efficiency, and what local people need to encourage them to get a Green Deal.
"This £20 million funding will help more hard working families benefit from the Green Deal, making their homes warmer and more efficient, and protecting them against rising energy bills."
