A SERIES of charity cycle rides by a man with Parkinson's has raised more than £6,000 for charity.
Former police officer Michael Peak used to take part in the 50- mile Great Notts Bike Ride, but ill health means he no longer has the stamina for long distances.
Instead the 64-year-old, of Southwell, set himself the challenge of seven seven-mile rides a over the summer.
Michael, who also has a partially-fused spine and undergone treatment for cancer, was joined was his wife Sandra and an army of supporters on routes across Nottingham and Southwell.
Cheques for £1,685 have been presented to four charities: Maggie's cancer caring centre in Nottingham; the City Hospital Burns' Unit, Southwell Live at Home and Over the Rainbow Parkinson's Support Group.
The total included £777 from Southwell and District Lions Club, plus donations from Mansfield Lions, Southwell Rotary Club and individuals.
Sandra said: "Raising money for Maggie's and the three other charities was Michael's way of showing his thanks for all the skill, care and support he has continued to receive."
