Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to a stabbing outside Primark at the weekend, as fresh information about where the attack happened emerges.
Officers now believe the 27-year-old victim was involved in an altercation near the Brian Clough statue not long before he was stabbed.
It is possible a number of people were involved.
The victim of the attack remains at the Queen's Medical Centre, where he is now described as being in a critical but stable condition and is showing signs of improvement.
He was found near the Primark store in Long Row with a stab wound to his body at around 1.45am on Sunday November 11.
An extensive search of the area has taken place and detectives are trawling hours of CCTV footage covering the city centre to identify the culprit.
Police are urging anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward and help them with the investigation.
They have assured any call will be treated in the strictest confidence.
Witnesses, or anyone with any information, are asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 119 on Sunday 11 November 2012, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
