THE first nine people to show their facial hair in support of charity and for a chance to win £100 have come forward.
The Nottingham Post has launched a competition to find the best moustache in the county.
The person crowned king of the soup strainer will win a £100 prize which will be donated to Movember – the charity that raises awareness for prostate and testicular cancer and mental health.
Joe Salt, 21 from Ilkeston who works at Time Watches, Broadmarsh Centre, said: "I am not doing it for a particular reason.
"There is a lot of hype around it and people are raising money and awareness for male cancers and I am jumping on that band wagon.
"I might even keep it after the weekend.
"The principal behind Movember is great because everyone can get involved without any effort."
Some people have already raised money for the cause.
Engineering student Shaun Cuthill, 21, of Nottingham Trent University, said: "I am part of a hockey club and we are trying to get all the sports teams at the university to get involved.
"We have already raised a couple of hundred pounds.
"My girlfriend will definitely be shaving it off if I don't."
If you think you can do better than this bunch, all you have to do is send us a picture of your facial hair and include your name, age and address.
Email your entry to newsdesk@nottinghampost.com or tweet us @Nottingham_Post, alternatively post a picture on our facebook page www.facebook.com/ThisIsNottingham.
All entries will be viewable at www.nottinghapost.com and the competition will be judged by the Editor and the winner will be announced on Saturday.
