PARTYING pensioners, including 56-year-old grandmother from Nottingham, featured in a TV documentary following rowdy retirees in Tenerife. Channel 5's OAPs Behaving Badly followed the antics of several ex-pats drinking and causing mayhem in the Spanish streets. One of the stars of last night's show was 56-year-old Cheryl Williams who moved from Nottingham to Tenerife. Cheryl, whose motto is "if you can't remember it, it didn't happen", moved to Spain following the divorce of her husband of 30 years. She said: "I met my husband when I was 18 and I was with him for 30 years - it was just an existence I think in the end. When I decided to leave that was it. "I was here on holiday and when I went home I just said I don't want to be married anymore. "When I was married I never went out with the girls, I never had girly things. "I had to learn to be somebody else." According to the programme, every year tens of thousands of pensioners visit Tenerife. In the show, Cheryl was seen clubbing with the 18-30 crow in Tenerife's notorious Veronica Strip. She added: "It's nice to mix with younger people you get a different outlook on life. "I've been known to have a few wild nights out here, not over the top now." Despite her devil-may-care attitude, at one point Cheryl steps in as a fight breaks out among some of the young clubbers on a night out. Asking the crowd "to please stop it", the feud appeared to quickly died down. She added later: "I was offered a job as a bouncer at one time but I thought I was a bit too old for that." But it's only minutes before she then heads back to the bar to get another round of drinks. The next morning, she's feeling a little rougher than usual. "I started out drinking wine with the girls then I drank Malibu and lemonade, tequila... Peroni... a jellyshot - that wasn't very nice." OAPs Behaving Badly was on Channel 5 on Thursday, June 10 at 9pm and is now available on catch-up at channel5.com
