The 26-year-old arrested in connection with the death of a man will be questioned for longer by detectives.
Officers were called to Bestwood Park Drive, Top Valley, at about 2am on Sunday.
There, they found a 29-year-old man with serious injuries. He was taken to Queen's Medical Centre where he died.
Friends and friends and family of the victim, named locally as Richard Rovetto have laid flowers on the grass at the scene.
Mr Rovetto – who was known as "Vetto" to his friends – worked for power company E.on at its offices in Nottingham.
