MORE than 11,000 fans packed into Trent Bridge to see Notts Outlaws fail to win a T20 home quarter-final tie for the fourth year in a row.
The home side posted a hugely impressive score of 197-2 with Riki Wessels, Alex Hales and Samit Patel all reaching classy and aggressive half centuries along the way.
But the work of the powerful Notts batting line-up was outdone by Hampshire who reached 198 with an over remaining and five wickets in hand - with James Vince top scoring, smashing 93 runs.
The career best score from England-hopeful Vince was supplemented by Sean Ervine and Michael Carberry who also contributed impressive scores with 39 and 31 respectively.
Of the Notts bowlers, only Luke Fletcher and Ajmal Shazhad really caused any problems for the opposition with Hampshire tucking into the bowling of Harry Gurney and Samit Patel.
Hampshire's impressive win breaks a fine run of form for the Outlaws who had not lost in white ball cricket since June 13 before this.
The Outlaws have not appeared at finals day in the T20 Blast since 2010, having fallen at the quarter-final stage every year since.
Hampshire, meanwhile, have now made Finals Days five years running.
