OLLIE Hynd followed up his success at the Commonwealth Games by immediately claiming another gold at the European Championships. The Mansfield swimmer dominated the S8 400 metre Freestyle, never relinquishing his early lead and coming home in a time of 4.31.66. A little more than a week ago, Hynd took first place in the 200m Individual Medley in Glasgow. However, his European challenge hadn't got off to the best of starts, with a fourth placed finish in the 100m backstroke. Nevertheless, it was soon business as usual for the Paralympic champion. "I am really proud and happy with my swim," Hynd said. "It was nice to kind of redeem myself from last night because I was obviously disappointed with that swim but it felt really good to be back on the podium today. "I think in a way I am quite privileged to have had the chance to race at a big event before coming into this meet. I've taken the positive aspects of my swim from the Commonwealths and tried to use that here." Hynd contributed to a haul of eight medals for the GBR Para-Swimming team on day two of the tournament.
