Mansfield Woodhouse chef Alec Maxfield will fight for a place in BBC2' Masterchef: The Professionals tonight.
Viewers saw the 30-year-old progress to the semi-final last week with a variety of delicious dishes.
He passed the first stage of the challenge after cooking pan-fried pollock with a celeriac and lemon puree with crushed new potatoes.
He then had to prepare another main course and dessert to present to food critics.
He cooked pan-fried turbot with peas and beef dripping potatoes and pea puree; scallop with a cabernet sauvignon reduction; tartar velouté. This was followed by a liquid chocolate cake with variations of apricot – purée, gel, raw apricot, poached apricot and a sorbet.
He received positive feedback from critics Tracey MacLeod and Jay Rayner, as well as judges Gregg Wallace and Michel Roux junior, and will no doubt be hoping for the same tonight.
Masterchef: The Professionals will be shown on BBC2 at 8.30pm.
