The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for Nottingham and Notts, as temperatures look set to plummet overnight. The yellow warning for icy conditions - the least serious of the three warnings the Met Office can issue - has been put in place from 6pm tonight until midday tomorrow. Temperatures overnight will drop to 1 degrees C, but forecasters have warned it will feel more like -3 degrees C by 9am tomorrow. Temperatures tomorrow will not get above 2 degrees C - the high at midday. The Met Office website said: "Outbreaks of rain and sleet will be clearing southwards on Tuesday night and early Wednesday, leaving surfaces wet and prone to freezing as skies clear and temperatures fall. "There is also a chance that precipitation could turn to snow locally, this most likely over hills, where a slight cover is possible locally. "The public should be aware of the potential for increased iciness, especially early on Wednesday, and possible disruption to travel." A cold weather alert has also been issued for the region, which warns care providers and those who look after vulnerable people to ready themselves for action if the cold snap lasts any longer.
