IT is almost five-and-a-half years since Chris Cohen arrived at Nottingham Forest from Yeovil Town.
And yet, the midfielder is still just 25 years of age, having made well over 200 appearances from the Reds.
In that time, he has seen a lot.
Promotion from League One, two play-off campaigns ended at the semi-final stage in the Championship, two battles against the drop, a takeover and a 12-month lay-off with a serious knee injury.
After a cup appearance at the end of August marked his comeback, he waited another month for league action and, since that came against Derby, he has not looked back.
In total, he has made 14 appearances and produced his trademark energetic displays.
But after a second successive defeat, losing at home to Hull on Saturday following the midweek reverse at Ipswich, it was met by some jeers from the home crowd.
However, despite being just four points off the play-offs ahead of meeting Burnley at the City Ground at the weekend, Cohen said the fans are entitled to voice their opinion.
After all, Cohen said the team is to be judged on the present, not the past.
And he hopes three points at the weekend will put them right back in the hunt.
He said: "We are bitterly disappointed with the last couple of games and I am sure the manager will look at changing things and putting a side out to beat Burnley on Saturday.
"I have been here a long time and seen a lot but we don't look at what we did in the past, we look at what is happening right now and that is what you are judged on as individuals and as a team.
"We are judged by our supporters and people looking in, but all we can do is keep doing the right things and work hard and make sure we stop what we feel are these silly losses when we should be winning games.
"We need to be as cut-throat as we can and pick up points regularly.
"At Ipswich we did not deserve anything, but more because of our sloppy mistakes.
"We know if we don't turn up at 100 per cent, we could be in trouble. If you turn up at 80 per cent against a team in the Championship, you will come unstuck and that is what happened.
"Against Hull we felt we had a bit of bad luck and things went against us but these things happen. Decisions have gone for us before so it all levels itself out."
Forest have invested in an experienced well and have shown in games what they are all about like in beating league leaders Cardiff convincingly on home soil.
They have big players like Danny Collins, Andy Reid, Henri Lansbury, Adlene Guedioura, Billy Sharp and Simon Cox at the club. And Cohen is confident the inconsistent form – with two draws, then two wins and two losses in the last six games – will soon be put to bed and they can climb into the top six.
"For me, we have had some great players and some great squads while I have been here but as a whole, we have the best squad we have ever had at present," said Cohen.
"It is nice for the manager to have options and players know when they come in they have to do well. And if you are not in, you have to work hard to get back in which is a good thing."
