A frosty Hucknall town centre was the scene for a Christmas wonderland as its annual carnival came to town.
The cold snap didn't stop thousands of townspeople line the streets to oversee the arrival of Hucknall's festive season.
The night started with music from Phil Rostance and Marshall Band on the Market Place.
More than 70 Christmas Trees were on show at the Christmas Tree Festival at the Parish Church.
A procession led by Boys' Brigade Band, which featured Santa's Sleigh, floats, and local groups, paraded along the High Street up to the Market Place.
Councillor Ken Knight, Chairman of Ashfield District Council, was at hand to switch-on the Christmas tree lights.
Andy Stone, 56, a member of the Hucknall Rotary Club, said the carnival is a fantastic way to bring the community together.
He added: "A night like this means a great deal to Hucknall, it kicks off Christmas by getting the whole community together.
"You see the churches, the community groups and youth clubs all pulling in the same direction."
The community spirit was also felt by others as local residents spoke about how the night brought everyone who came together.
Caroline Shaw, 38, of Duke Street, Hucknall, said: "This carnival is just good fun, it brings the community together and it's nice to see everyone together supporting Hucknall.
Adrian Nicholls, 47, of Watnall Road, Hucknall, said: "There is not enough of this going on in Hucknall so it's good to get people together. It's great to see all the kids in the parade.
"My family and I have been here since half-past four - going around the shops and the fair. There's a great Christmas spirit."
