NOTTINGHAM Panthers have signed Swedish netminder Mattias Modig on a short-term deal as cover for injured number one Craig Kowalski.
The 27-year-old is set to be available for Saturday's home game against Coventry Blaze.
Modig, a fourth round draft pick of Annaheim in the NHL in 2007, told the club: "I'm looking forward to the challenge of helping Panthers at this time. I've heard a lot of good things about the club and the city."
The former a Swedish junior international has played in the top flight in his home land as well as in the ECHL and AHL in America.
His arrival in Nottingham comes after co-operation with Champions League opponents Lulea, where he was born, and where his cousin and uncle have club connections.
