Birmingham City v Nottingham Forest: Talking tactics

AFTER making changes to his starting XI for six consecutive games, Stuart Pearce must finally be tempted to stick, rather than twist, at St Andrew's on Saturday.

The Forest manager's habit of tinkering to suit the opposition strengths did work brilliantly at Molineux, with Eric Lichaj having marked Bakary Sako out of the game.

The right-back was brought into the side specifically to thwart Wolves' main attacking threat. But, with the side as a whole having put in such an emphatic, dominant display on the other side of the Midlands, any player left out when they head back in that direction would have cause to feel hard done by.

The midfield quartet of Michail Antonio, Henri Lansbury, Ben Osborn and Chris Burke (pictured) was the most balanced unit Forest have had in weeks, in the middle third. While the work rate and industry of Matty Fryatt and Britt Assombalonga were also integral factors.

With the back-four also keeping a first clean sheet in eight games, they too will hope to retain their places in the side. Whatever he decides, Pearce will hope to see an identical performance, against another tough nut to crack in the West Midlands.
