JOHN Lewis in Nottingham expects Black Friday to be one of its busiest trading days of the year.
The store will be open from 8am-8pm to help meet the expected increased demand.
Extra staff will also be called in to cope with the hundreds of shoppers expected to visit the store.
Details about the offers on electrical items will not be released until Friday morning when brands, such as Apple, announce their discounts. John Lewis will price match these offers.
As part of it's ongoing Never Knowingly Undersold initiative, the retailer will also price match offers on beauty, fashion and toys.
Amanda Dammers, head of the Nottingham branch, said: "Last year was the first year that we really saw Black Friday break through in the UK, but we think it will be even bigger this year.
"The big global brands now offer their US discounts across the world, so it makes sense for us to follow those offers because it is a global market now.
"We expect Black Friday to be even bigger this year.
"It's taking over from Cyber Monday as our biggest shopping day online and in the store."
At present, GHD hair products are proving to be among the most popular items with John Lewis shoppers, with sales increasing by 52 per cent this year.
High-end beauty products are also flying off the shelves, along with wireless speakers and headphones.
And more John Lewis customers than ever before are choosing to order things online and collect in the store.
"We think there's a possibility that we could have more click and collect in the store orders than home delivery for the first time this year," Amanda added.
Black Friday, which was born in the US and takes place on the Friday following Thanksgiving, is on November 28 this year.
Some of the biggest names on the High Street will slash their prices for the annual say of sales.
